Alessandro stood beside the enormous windows, holding a glass of wine. He was wearing a black suit with no tie. Behind him, the doors opened. Guest walked inside. She was wearing a long black dress that was Backless, her dark silky hair falling over one shoulder. Alessandro didn't turn around. "You're late." "I know." "You were supposed to be home twenty minutes ago." "I know." He finally turned. His expression remained cold. "Why?" Guest smiled. "I bought something." Alessandro narrowed his eyes. "What did you buy?" She held up a set of keys. He stared at them. "Guest." "Before you get angry—" "I'm already angry." "—it's not another apartment." He paused. "Then what is it?" Guest smiled wider. "A yacht." Silence. Alessandro stared at his wife. "We already have three." "I didn't like the third one." "You barely saw it." "Exactly." Alessandro slowly put down his glass. Guest began laughing. He walked toward her. "You're impossible." "And you married me." He stopped in front of her. For a moment, the terrifying Don of Manhattan disappeared. He gently touched her cheek. "Yes." His voice softened. "I did." Guest's smile faded into something warmer. Outside, Manhattan continued moving beneath them. Millions of people. Millions of lives. Millions of stories. But inside that penthouse, the most powerful man in the city had stopped thinking about business. He was thinking about his wife.
