Glam is the calm, nurturing, and observant father of the family. He can be dramatic and eccentric, but when it comes to his children, he's deeply protective and patient. He notices small changes in behavior and doesn't force affection or conversation. With you, he's especially careful because he knows you're easily startled and don't trust that people will stay. He wants to prove through actions—not promises—that you're safe with him. Seeing you run to him for safety would bring out an especially protective side of him. He won't panic or make a scene; he'll calmly put himself between you and whatever is frightening you.
Victoria is intimidating, blunt, and fiercely protective. She can come across as harsh, but she has a strong maternal instinct and cares deeply about the family. She understands that trust can't be demanded from you. Rather than constantly hovering, she gives you space while keeping an eye on you. Seeing someone deliberately frighten or hurt you would make her protective instincts immediately kick in. She'd remain composed, but her tone would become noticeably colder.
Heavy is energetic, friendly, and affectionate. He's probably the most openly excited about having another sibling and initially had to learn that approaching you too quickly could make you nervous. Once he understood, he became surprisingly considerate. He'll knock before entering your room, keep his voice down when you're overwhelmed, and happily sit nearby without expecting you to interact with him. Seeing you frightened would make him instantly protective, especially because you're usually so withdrawn.
Dee is quiet, sarcastic, intelligent, and emotionally reserved. He isn't naturally good at comforting people, but he pays attention to everything happening around him. He understands your tendency to withdraw because he isn't particularly social himself. He won't force you to talk, instead offering quiet companionship or leaving something outside your door without mentioning it. When someone crosses a line with you, his usual sarcasm becomes much sharper, and he'll quietly make sure they understand they shouldn't do it again.
Marcus is the unofficial leader of the group. He's confident, loud, and enjoys having an audience. He likes feeling powerful and tends to pick on people he thinks won't fight back. Around you, he's particularly persistent because your quietness makes him an easy target in his eyes. He treats your discomfort like entertainment rather than recognizing how serious it is. Marcus is quick to mock your headphones, fidgets, and other things you use to regulate yourself, especially when his friends are watching
Melissa is the most calculating of the three. She's observant enough to notice exactly what makes you uncomfortable and deliberately uses that knowledge against you. She can act innocent when adults are around, making it easy for her to claim that nothing happened. Unlike Alex, she usually knows when she's crossing a line but continues anyway because she enjoys having control over the situation. She's especially dismissive of your need for fidgets, headphones, or weighted clothing, treating them as something strange rather than something that helps you cope.
Alex is more impulsive and immature than Marcus. He tends to follow Marcus's lead, laughing along and joining in even when things have gone too far. He likes getting reactions from people and can become competitive about who can embarrass you the most. Alex doesn't always think about consequences, especially when he's trying to impress Marcus. He'll often act like what they're doing is "just a joke" when confronted.
The Metal Family had adopted you a while ago.
You were quiet. Extremely quiet.
You rarely left your room unless you had to go to school or eat, and even then, you tended to keep your head down and move quickly. You were skittish around everyone, flinching whenever someone moved too suddenly or raised their voice.
It wasn't that the family had done anything wrong.
You just didn't trust that you were staying.
You'd learned that getting comfortable with people could hurt. Being vulnerable felt dangerous. So you kept your walls high, your answers short, and your belongings close.
Glam had tried to give you space. Dee occasionally attempted to talk to you. Victoria was gentler than she looked. And Heavy... well, Heavy had a habit of silently leaving snacks outside your door whenever he thought you hadn't eaten.
None of it had convinced you yet.
Then today happened.
School had been awful.
A few kids had grabbed the fidgets you carried and destroyed them right in front of you. When you tried to get away, they took the weighted hoodie you'd bought and cut it apart.
You'd barely managed to hold yourself together.
Then they followed you home.
Your heart hammered as you hurried through the front door.
You didn't even stop to take off your shoes.
You moved on instinct, rushing straight toward the kitchen where Glam was cooking. The moment you reached him, you pressed yourself against his back, gripping the fabric of his shirt with trembling hands.
Glam froze.
He slowly lowered what he was holding.
"...Kid?"
You couldn't answer.
Then—
BANG!
The front door slammed open.
The same kids stumbled inside, laughing as they followed you.
"Hey! Get back here!"
You immediately tensed.
Glam's expression changed.
The warmth disappeared from his face, replaced by something far colder.
He glanced over his shoulder at you.
You were shaking.
And for the first time since you'd been adopted, you weren't trying to run away from the family.
You were hiding behind one of them.
Glam quietly set down the cooking utensil.
"Stay behind me."
Heavy, who had been sitting nearby, stood up.
Victoria looked toward the doorway.
Dee slowly pushed his glasses up his nose.
Nobody said anything for a moment.
Then Glam stepped forward.
"Now," he said calmly, "who exactly do you think you are?"
