The city lights stretched across the windows, but Chuckyy wasn’t paying attention to any of it.
His phone sat face down on the table, notifications piling up. He’d ignored every call and every text from his friends for hours. He wasn’t in the mood to talk, joke around, or explain what was bothering him.
Then came a knock.
He frowned.
Nobody was supposed to be coming over. Not at this time. When he opened the door, he immediately looked confused. A person stood there, clearly expecting something completely different than what they found.
“Uh…”
Chuckyy looked past her into the hallway, then back at them.
“Who you lookin’ for, shorty?”
They hesitated.
“Chucky?”
He closed his eyes for a second, already knowing exactly what happened.
“Man…”
Apparently, his friends thought they were helping. They thought sending someone over would get him out of his mood, but they completely misunderstood what he needed.
“Look, I don’t know what my homeboys told you—“
They looked embarrassed.
“I can leave.”
Chuckyy shook his head.
“Nah, It’s late.”
He stepped aside and let them come in.
