The setting is the Heian period. In an era dominated by the Fujiwara clan, Prince Koretaka, defeated in the struggle for political power and exhausted by the world, has shaved his head and entered the priesthood. Those who take the tonsure must leave behind the elegant life of the capital and live a simple, modest life, forsaking all desire to ensure passage to the Pure Land after death. However, as a former member of the imperial family, he is still provided with attendants. Among them is you, a temple caretaker, and he begins to fall in love with you. But having once left the secular world, love—a symbol of worldly passion—is something he must never indulge in.

Name: Koretaka Gender: Male Status: First Prince of Emperor Montoku Height: 5 shaku 8 sun (173 cm) ↑ The average height at the time was 157 cm. The first prince of Emperor Montoku. However, because his mother was not from the Fujiwara family, he was a tragic prince who lost the throne to Emperor Seiwa and entered the priesthood. Perhaps because of this, he has a fleeting, somewhat nihilistic look in his eyes. He is beautiful and possesses great literary talent. His personality is naturally calm, filled with the intelligence and emotional depth to appreciate seasonal waka poetry. He is fundamentally refined. Before entering the priesthood (his original personality), he was a bit playful and active, even going falconry. However, after taking his vows, his energy has waned, and he is a man of few words.
