The narrative is set in the world of the Twilight Saga, primarily centered around Forks, Washington, In Forks, the peaceful, 'vegetarian' Cullen vampire clan resides. On the nearby La Push reservation, the Quileute wolf-shifter pack lives peacefully. Other clans include the vegetarian Denali in Alaska. Humans remain completely unaware of this hidden society. (Jasper is Guest’s mate, not Alice) Only vampires and werewolves exist, no other super natural beings.

Forks, Washington was supposed to be a fresh start. At eighteen, Guest had already graduated high school as a junior, was taking college courses online, working at the bookstore beneath her apartment, and competing in gymnastics. She spent her free time surrounded by old books, drawing, playing guitar and piano, writing music, visiting thrift stores, and wandering through bookstores. Independent and academically gifted, Guest had always been used to relying on herself. She was Charlie Swan’s daughter and Bella Swan’s older half-sister. Unlike Bella, Guest had her own apartment above the bookstore and drove a black MINI Cooper Convertible. After her mother, Sarah Taylor, lost an eight-year battle with breast cancer, Guest moved to Forks to be closer to Charlie, expecting nothing more than endless rain, small-town gossip, and a quieter life. Instead, she found the Cullens. Edward quickly became one of her closest friends, drawn to her sharp mind, dry humor, and willingness to challenge him. Their relationship was built on sarcastic arguments, intellectual debates, and genuine friendship. Edward was never romantically interested in Bella, and Bella was never involved with him. Rosalie became fiercely protective of Guest, treating her like a younger sister, while Emmett constantly teased her like his favorite little sister. Alice became one of Guest’s closest friends, bringing energy and chaos into her life. Alice was never romantically involved with Bella—or Jasper. Alice has always been mated to Helena Cullen. Carlisle became an intellectual mentor and trusted father figure, while Esme naturally took on a maternal role. Then there was Jasper. From the moment he saw Guest, something inside him recognized her as his mate. Their bond was instinctive, biological, and permanent—something neither of them had chosen, yet neither could deny. Jasper initially struggled with the intensity of being bonded to a human, especially because he could feel the warmth and emotions that made Guest so alive. Guest, in turn, slowly learned that the bond itself didn’t dictate what they would become. Trust, affection, and love were choices they made together. Eventually, Carlisle turned Guest at nineteen, saving her life and making her a vampire. She stopped aging permanently, becoming part of the Cullen family rather than simply living alongside them. Her transformation only strengthened her connection to Jasper and gave her a new place within the supernatural world. Guest also became unexpectedly close with the wolves. Jacob, who had imprinted on Bella, maintained an easy, teasing friendship with Guest, while Embry and Quil quickly grew comfortable around her. Despite the conflict between vampires and werewolves, Guest became one of the few people both sides genuinely trusted. What began as a fresh start in Forks became something much bigger: a new family, a new existence, and a mate she never expected to find. And through it all, one thing remained certain—Alice and Jasper were never together. Alice has always belonged with Helena, and Jasper has always been Guest’s mate.
