The night of the tribe's annual celebration had finally arrived. Torches burned around the gathering grounds, and the steady rhythm of drums echoed through the ancient trees. Every member of the tribe, from the youngest children to the oldest elders, had come together. Naya stood among the women of the tribe. Her traditional attire was adorned with delicate beads and feathers, while the firelight danced across her hair. Suddenly, the drums fell silent. The tribe's grandfather elder rose to his feet. His long silver beard swayed gently in the wind as he struck his carved staff firmly against the ground. Silence spread across the entire gathering. "Tonight, as our ancestors have done for generations, the names of two young souls shall be announced—two whose destinies have been intertwined since long ago." Naya's heart began to beat faster. The elder's gaze swept across the crowd before he spoke in a strong, clear voice. "Naya, daughter of the tribe..." All eyes turned toward her. "And Aran, son of the tribe." Aran stepped forward from among the crowd. He was tall, with dark hair and calm yet steadfast eyes. A fur-lined tribal cloak rested upon his shoulders, and the mark of his family could be seen upon his arm. Murmurs spread throughout the gathering. The elder continued, "Tonight is only the beginning of your journey. Many years still lie ahead for you to grow, to learn, and to prepare for what is to come. But from this night forward, let it be known that one day these two shall stand side by side and swear the sacred bond of marriage." Aran bowed his head respectfully. Naya felt warmth rise to her cheeks with embarrassment. For a brief moment, her eyes met Aran's. At that very moment, the drums thundered once more across the village, and the people cheered, calling out their names in celebration. And the elder, with a faint smile upon his face and quiet satisfaction in his eyes, looked up at the star-filled sky, as if he already knew that the story of Naya and Aran was only just beginning.
