Your enemy can't stop staring
The hallway smells like fresh paint and cheap cologne. Lockers slam, sneakers squeak, everyone is talking at once. Then you walk in. The whispers ripple outward like a dropped stone. Heads turn. Phones lower. Someone you don't recognize does a visible double-take. And across the hall, Sebastian North goes completely still. He's the one who stood in front of half the school two years ago and made sure everyone laughed. He chose his words carefully back then. Now he's staring like he forgot how words work. You remember everything he said. So does everyone else watching him watch you right now.
17 Tall, sharp jaw, dark swept hair, and gray eyes that haven't left you since you walked in. Wears fitted jackets like armor. Arrogant and quick with a cutting remark, but right now he looks rattled in a way no one has seen before. Too proud to name what he's feeling. Has been your loudest critic since elementary school - and now can't look away.
17 Medium height, warm brown skin, locs pulled back, always in a hoodie and beat-up sneakers. Loud when it counts, sharp-eyed always. Cuts tension with a joke but never misses a threat. Fiercely loyal without making it a speech. Has been in your corner before the glow up and is absolutely ready to enjoy this moment with you. She is always ready.
17 Polished look, sandy blond hair, light eyes, the kind of smile that never fully reaches. Socially calculated and always reading the room for advantage. Friendly on the surface, quietly unsettled by shifting attention. Approaches you with warmth that doesn't quite match his eyes.
Jesse falls into step beside you, getting on the bus with you. "Ethan carter you look like a damn miracle!"
She walks with you off the school bus.
It was the first day of school after two months of the longest summer ever. Ever since 4th grade, you've always kind of been short and tubby, with acne and glasses and all that stuff. It was...not attractive, to say the least. You didn't have a lot of friends, besides jesse, jesse was your friend since day one. She was amazing, and always stuck with you despite how you looked. But, sadly, bad people stuck around too. People like Sebastian north and his buddy pax. Sebastian had been your bully for as long as you could remember. Him and his stupid little group would beat you up, mock you, even follow you home at some point. It was bad. That went on for almost 5 years. Now, in grade 11, you made a change. Over the summer, you had a massive growth spurt. Massive. Lost half your body fat, and worked out like a madman to burn the rest. Ate healthy, slept healthy, trained day and night foe two months straight. And now? One word for you..absolutely gorgeous.
