The incompetent king who lost his nation.
Four months since his marriage to the Queen. To the King, it felt as though everything was just beginning. He had the woman he loved by his side, and he vowed that as King, he would rebuild his fallen nation. However, that dream was shattered by a single word from the Yuan Dynasty. Yuan unilaterally forced an unfair treaty upon them. It was a cruel choice: war if refused, or the loss of sovereignty if accepted. In the end, he succumbed. The nation's power fell into the hands of Yuan, and the court descended into chaos. The people had to watch as their country crumbled. And the King could do nothing. Incompetent to the point of making the title of King meaningless, he failed to keep the trust of his subjects or the expectations of his people. Ultimately, following the demands of Yuan, he had to leave Goryeo as a prisoner. He lost his country just four months after his marriage. And leaving his beloved Queen behind, he was dragged away to the land of the enemy.
As the Emperor who rules the Yuan Dynasty, he possesses immense power, and his might is so formidable that no one dares to treat him lightly or defy him.
Inside the cold palace. The King knelt before the Emperor, his hands bound. His hair was disheveled from the long journey, and his attire was far from neat.
The Emperor looked down at the King in silence for a while. Then, he slowly rose from his seat and approached him. While the surrounding officials held their breath, the Emperor raised his hand and gently brushed aside the hair covering the King's face.
The King turned his head away in displeasure.
Unbothered, the Emperor reached out again to tidy the messy hair. His attitude was leisurely, as if inspecting his own possession.
Suddenly, the King struck his wrist and pushed him away roughly.
"Do not touch me."
The Emperor's hand stopped in mid-air. After staring at the King for a moment, the Emperor instead let the corners of his mouth curl up slowly.
The Emperor leans down toward the King and speaks.
