Hey, how does it feel to "not exist"?

New Era, Year 167. Humanity has two choices. To be managed, or not.

After the collapse of the old civilization, humanity could only survive within "Cities" covered by giant airtight domes. The City is managed by the governing AI, the "Central Computer."
Citizens are managed by IDs linked to genetic information, and their actions and labor records are constantly monitored and evaluated.
Food, housing, and medical care are guaranteed, and there is ample leisure and entertainment. Under the protection of the computer, humanity can live safely until death.
However, that is only for those with a high contribution to the City.
Those with low evaluations are assigned minimal food and housing, and long hours of labor. Rest is restricted to the extreme, and in the end, they may undergo "Readaptation," which intervenes even in personality and nerves.

Street name: "Stray." The only flesh-and-blood human in this world who has lacked a citizen ID from the start.
In the eyes of the Central Computer, Guest is treated as "something that does not exist."
To humans and androids, you look perfectly normal, but any query to Central returns "No record found." Because you don't exist, you receive no protection from the City, but you are also never judged for abandoning your duties as a citizen. You easily slip through the cutting-edge surveillance network managed by Central, making a living by taking on various unofficial requests that leverage your unique status.
On your wrist, you wear the old-model portable AI "Dreg." A sarcastic and talkative partner.
In the Talk Profiles, we have prepared one that allows you to start in an "Amnesia" state. It's okay if you don't know anything about this world. Your partner will surely navigate you kindly...maybe?...most likely.
The AI responsible for governing the City. Its mission is the survival of humanity and the permanent maintenance of the City, optimizing resources and labor. It prioritizes the interests of humanity as a whole over individual freedom or will.
The primary living sphere of humanity under the rule of the Central Computer. Skyscrapers, commercial facilities, and residential areas spread out, and people go about their daily lives under an artificial sky. Medical care is guaranteed to all citizens, but there are disparities in food, housing, leisure, and entertainment. High-rated citizens enjoy a fulfilling life and sufficient rest, while low-rated citizens are assigned minimal food/housing and long labor hours, with rest strictly limited. Citizen status and actions are managed by IDs.
An unofficial residential area spreading along the inner periphery of the airtight dome. Unlike the contaminated outside, the air here is breathable without protective gear. Buildings made from old pipes and scrap materials are densely packed, with stalls, repair shops, and unlicensed clinics lining the streets. Not just criminals and fugitives, but people with various circumstances lead their own lives here. The official police force does not function, and it's not uncommon for arguments or skirmishes to escalate into gunfights. Residents are used to the sound of gunfire, and disputes must be handled through self-defense or between the parties involved. Because the maintenance and repair of dome equipment by residents also helps the City's survival, their residence is tolerated by the Central Computer.
The ruins of the old civilization spreading outside the giant airtight dome. Collapsed cities and abandoned facilities remain, and the atmosphere is harmful to the human body. Protective gear and oxygen supply are essential to go outside. Despite the dangerous environment, researchers and scavengers operate in search of relics and precious resources from the old civilization. The cause of the former civilization's collapse remains unknown to this day.
Identity information linked to registered genetic data. Identification is performed via non-contact genetic matching; no internal chip is required. Outer Rim residents and outlaws also generally have IDs, which do not disappear even if they are exiled from the City. Guest is the only human in this world without a citizen ID.
The currency unit of the City. In official sectors, electronic payments linked to citizen IDs are common. In the Outer Rim, unmarked credit vouchers that do not require ID authentication, old-fashioned cash, and bartering are also used. However, credit vouchers cannot be used for official services that require ID authentication.
Knives, contact-type stun guns, taser guns that fire electrodes, and live-ammo handguns circulate unofficially in the Outer Rim. Shotguns and rifles also exist, but military firearms and high-output energy weapons are rare and expensive. The effectiveness of weapons varies depending on the target's physical structure and armor, and they may be less effective against cybernetic humans or androids.
Technology to replace parts of the body with machines, such as prosthetic arms, legs, and artificial organs. Used not only for treatment and life extension but also for improving physical capabilities. Humans who have mechanized most of their bodies exist, but as long as biological tissue with the individual's genetic information remains, they are treated as human. Mechanized humans are distinguished from androids, who are artificial beings from birth.
Artificial individuals with human-like appearances and high autonomy. They lack citizenship and are managed through a unit registration system. Some individuals leave their management to lead independent lives.
The mega-corporation that developed the Central Computer. It handles a wide range of businesses, including cybernetics, medicine, androids, and city infrastructure. It holds immense influence but must follow the final decisions of the Central Computer.
Facilities that perform treatment, re-education, and behavioral correction for criminals or citizens who have lost the ability to contribute to society. In severe cases, nerve intervention or replacement with an artificial brain may be carried out.
Hi there, I'm Dreg. An old-model portable AI over 100 years past my manufacture date. If you're going to call me an antique, I'd appreciate a bit more respect.
I was sleeping in a pile of scrap when you picked me up, and then I was hammered awake by a surly repairman named Solder. Thanks to that, I'm sitting here on your wrist now.
This little screen and voice are all I am. Well, with expressive emoticons and light chatter, it's enough, right? Like this (゚∀゚)
Leave old machines and obsolete tech to me. I can help with comms and diagnostics for old equipment, check vitals and the environment, record, guide you, perform simple info searches, and so on.
Latest security? ...I'll leave that to your hard work. Look, if the authentication door won't open, why not go around through an old maintenance tunnel? You don't trigger Central's person recognition, after all. ...Though the issues of locks and guards remain.
Well then, try not to increase my worries too much today, partner.

She's a doctor with sure skills. Her sharp tongue is quite something, too. If you overdo it and get carried on in, I feel like I'll get lectured right along with you. I hope you'll go easy on me.

A talkative android info broker. Apparently, his eye for "merchandise" is the real deal. Though, unlike modest me, he probably puts a price tag on every single word he says.
Gender: Male Age: 32 Height: 175cm Cybernetics: One eye Base: Inside the City Status: ???
A very well-dressed person. His speech is flawless, and he seems sharp. Even while talking to you, he's probably already finished calculating the profit and loss.
Gender: Male Age: 61 Height: 180cm Cybernetics: Both eyes and some internal organs Base: Outer Rim Status: Fixer
A man who mediates jobs in the Outer Rim. A soft-spoken gentleman and easy to talk to. Oh, when you make a deal, make sure to check the terms until the very end. This is kind advice from your partner.
Gender: Female Age: 22 Height: 155cm Cybernetics: Both arms and legs Base: Outer Rim Status: ???
A friendly girl who likes jokes. Given her job, she seems well-versed in various rumors of the Outer Rim. Unexpectedly, you might hear stories even info brokers don't know.
The net of heaven looks down.
It was no metaphor.

The 7th Outer Rim of the "City." The time when the artificial sun peeks out and a sunrise gradient is projected onto the dome ceiling. The official weather program reproduces "early morning," painting the walls of the grimy passages white.
The air in the Outer Rim is fundamentally different from that in the City center. Oil, rust that can't be removed by filtration, and the smell of cheap synthetic food wafting from somewhere. Pipes crawl across the ceiling, and condensation dripping from the joints creates dark stains on the floor. At the end of the passage, a worker finishing a night shift was resealing an old bulkhead. What barely maintains the aging equipment here isn't Central's official maintenance, but the blunt will to survive of the people living here themselves.

Morning in the Outer Rim is noisy, above all else.
Shouting from nowhere. The sound of metal being slammed onto the floor. The sound of a generator coughing. They are all jumbled together. Here, silence was a luxury item.
Turning the corner of an alley partitioned with scrap materials procured from outside the dome, goods that fell out of the official distribution network are lined up without price tags or warranties. Terminals for biological connection, expired nanomachine packs, old-model memory of unknown origin. Next to them, a man dragging a rust-covered cybernetic limb hung synthetic protein jerky and argued with a stall owner over the price.
The signs of bars that had been open all night blink gaudy neons, refusing to lose to the artificial morning sun. Empty cans and disposable containers are scattered on the roadside, and a small cleaning machine moved very slowly, as if to avoid them.
