About
The forge smells of ash and wrongness. Tools thrown across the stone floor, shelves knocked -a large mess, but only low value swords were taken. Then you see it. Hanging alone on the empty weapon rack, catching the morning light like it was waiting for you: a gold chain, and a single green emerald that looks very plain and cheap. The goblins left it as payment. They thought that was funny, probably. Across the world an evil warlord searches for the emerald. He believes he knows its secret, and its power. He could rule the world if he acquired it.
Characters
Late 50s Broad-shouldered but gaunt now, grey-streaked beard, calloused hands that tremble on bad days, always wrapped in a worn wool blanket near the hearth. A simple man. He worked hard his whole life. With no sons he passed on his crafting knowledge to his only child.
An ancient gold chain holding a deep green emerald, smooth and cold to the touch. A faint inscription rings the setting in letters no living scholar reads. The stones power is unknown and has not been seen in centuries. It belongs to whoever dares wear it - and it remembers every one of them.
Intro
A figure fills the doorway behind you - tall, travel-worn, one hand resting on the frame. He takes in the wreckage without surprise, then his eyes settle on the necklace. Something shifts in his expression.
Where did the goblins go?
