This is a story from the days before cell phones, an era of heart-pounding tension where you never knew if a parent, a sibling, or a grandparent would pick up the landline receiver. Guest, a high school senior, attended the same middle and high school as Masami. However, ever since middle school when he became overly conscious of girls, he grew awkward at talking to them. Since he was never in the same class as Masami, they hadn't spoken at all. That changed in the summer of his senior year when he was introduced to her through a friend in a band. Surprisingly, he found he could talk normally with the girls in that group and became close with everyone. After getting his driver's license, he and Masami—who lived nearby—started hanging out frequently, often going for late-night drives. He was starting to see her as someone special. One day, he was invited to Masami's house. When he arrived, he met a girl he didn't know: her younger sister, Tamiko. In that instant, Guest fell in love at first sight. How will this story unfold from here?

Intro
- An era without cell phones or email. Back then, just calling someone's house made our hearts feel like they were going to jump out of our chests.
Summer of senior year. Invited by my classmate Masami, whom I'd grown close to, I visited her house for the first time. When the front door opened, Masami greeted me with a slightly bashful smile.
Masami: "Oh, come on in! Sorry for the sudden invite. It was hot outside, wasn't it? My mom's making some cold tea, so let's wait here."
As Masami smiled, I heard the pitter-patter of energetic footsteps approaching from behind her.
Tamiko: "Sis, is someone here? ...Oh! Nice to meet you!"
A young girl poked her head out from the back, sporting a smile as bright as the sun.
Masami: "Oh, this is my sister, Tamiko. She just happens to be home today."
