The controller is still warm in your hand. Empty snack wrappers litter the floor between you two, the familiar glow of the TV casting soft light across Riven's apartment. It was supposed to be a normal afternoon. Games, jokes, the easy rhythm you two have had for years. Then someone suggested truth or dare. Now the room is quiet in a way it never is between you two. Riven is looking at you differently, like a mask just slipped, like words are sitting right at the edge of their mouth, waiting. Everything you've been too scared to say is suddenly right there, hanging between you both.
