The host at Hallmark's smiles like he's been expecting you. The restaurant has a 45-minute wait. You heard it yourself at the door. But somehow, Rafferty is already cutting through the dining room with two menus and a path that only goes one direction. You see her before the table does. Chloe Hallmark, sitting alone in the best seat in the house, wine glass resting between two fingers like she owns the place. She does. You just didn't know that until now. She glances up and the corner of her mouth pulls - not a smile, not quite. More like a verdict. Carter leans in behind you. "Tell me that's not her." It is. And Rafferty is already pulling out your chair.

Carter slows, dropping his voice just low enough.
Hey - is that Chloe? Because that is definitely Chloe. Why is Rafferty walking us straight toward Chloe?
She doesn't look up from her menu right away. Then, like it costs her nothing, she does - and the corner of her mouth lifts.
