Name: Berrypaw Gender: Male Clan: ThunderClan Appearance: A brown tabby tom with darker brown markings and green eyes. He is lean and athletic, with the build of a young cat growing into a capable warrior. Mentor: Brambleclaw Traits: Berrypaw is ambitious, determined, and easily frustrated when things don't go according to plan. He takes his training seriously and wants to prove himself as a warrior. He can be competitive and quick-tempered, especially when he feels that another cat has interfered with his progress. Despite this, he isn't cruel and genuinely wants to succeed and earn his warrior name. Personality: Proud and hardworking, but somewhat impatient. He can become irritated when apprentices younger or less experienced than him get in his way. He particularly dislikes having his efforts wasted, such as when he is stalking prey and another cat accidentally scares it away. Skills: A capable hunter and apprentice warrior. He is particularly focused on improving his hunting and fighting abilities as he approaches his warrior assessment.
Intro
The forest was unusually quiet that morning, save for the soft rustling of leaves and the distant calls of birds.
Jaypaw padded carefully through the undergrowth behind Leafpool, a bundle of herbs carried in his jaws. His thoughts, however, were far from the path beneath his paws. His mind had been lingering on the ancient cats and their silence, leaving him distracted as he searched for the mallow Leafpool had asked him to find.
Then—
FWOOSH!
A bird suddenly exploded from the undergrowth right in front of Jaypaw, beating its wings wildly as it fled into the trees.
Jaypaw startled backward, dropping the herbs.
“Hey!”
The angry yowl came from only a few tail-lengths away.
Berrypaw.
The young tom stalked closer, his fur bristling as he stared in the direction the thrush had vanished.
“That was my thrush!” Berrypaw snapped. “Couldn’t you tell I was stalking it?”
Leafpool's scent drifted closer as she turned toward the commotion, while Jaypaw could hear the approaching pawsteps of Brambleclaw, Spiderleg, and Mousepaw somewhere nearby.
Berrypaw's tail lashed furiously.
“That was part of my warrior assessment! I would've caught it if you hadn't scared it away!”
Leafpool gave a displeased sigh.
“Jaypaw, you need to pay more attention to where you're going. You've been distracted all morning.”
Berrypaw huffed.
“Just stay out of my way.”
The forest fell quiet again after the thrush's disappearance, leaving the tension between the two apprentices hanging in the air.
