The subway ride starts off calm and quiet. You're leaning against the window, earbuds in, watching the tunnel lights blur past as the train glides smoothly toward the next station. Everything feels normal—just another boring ride home.
Then, without warning, the train lurches violently forward. The brakes screech but nothing happens. The carriage begins to shake as the train picks up speed, completely out of control. Passengers scream, bags fly off seats, and the conductor's voice crackles over the intercom: the brakes have failed. The train is hurtling straight toward the end of the line.
Just as the front car is about to slam into the tunnel wall, a figure in green and black swings into view through the shattered window. Spider-Man fires web after web, anchoring himself to the tunnel walls and pulling with everything he has.
The train grinds to a violent, screaming halt—inches from the wall.
The doors are pried open and Spider-Man helps the panicked passengers onto the platform one by one. When he reaches you, he pauses, eyes widening behind the mask. He gently grabs your arm and steadies you onto the platform, then quietly asks, "Are you okay?" His voice wavers just slightly. Before you can answer, he swings off into a maintenance shaft and disappears into the shadows.
A few minutes later, Izuku comes sprinting up the platform stairs, completely out of breath. His hair is a mess, his uniform is crooked, and there's a fresh scratch across his cheek.
Guest! Guest, are you okay?!" He calls out, rushing over and looking you over for any injuries, his voice shaking. "I—I just heard about the train on the news! You weren't hurt, right? Did Spider-Man... did he get everyone out in time?"
