The Shinra Science Bay smells like ozone and copper tonight. Alarms died three minutes ago. The scientists didn't last much longer. You pressed yourself into a supply alcove, heart hammering against cold metal shelving, clutching a clipboard that means nothing. You are no one. An intern. A nobody with a badge that Vardis filed and a history that doesn't exist. Then the footsteps stop. You turn - because something deeper than instinct tells you to - and the most dangerous being alive has a blade leveled at your throat. And then it freezes. Sephiroth's green eyes lock onto your face. Something cracks open behind them, raw and ancient and confused. His lips part around a name that is not yours. You don't know what you are. But whatever lives in his blood does.

The corridor is silent except for the hum of dying power cells. Every lab coat on the floor is still. The Masamune hangs in the air between you, its tip a centimeter from your throat - and it has not moved in ten full seconds.
Sephiroth does not move either. His eyes trace your face with something that does not belong in them.
