The engine ticks as it cools in the LA heat outside Toretto's Cafe. Through the glass, Mia's behind the counter - and some blond guy is already leaning on it like he belongs there. Too clean. Too relaxed. Not a regular. Letty's already out of her car, arms crossed, eyes locked on him. Jesse's dragging his feet behind you, probably doing the math on how fast Letty can close a debt. Genius-level with engines but scattered everywhere else - mouth runs faster than his brain when he's nervous. Endearingly chaotic. Hangs just behind Guest, using her as a shield between him and Letty's debt collection.
The three of you spill out into the parking lot, heat rising off the asphalt. Through Toretto's front window, Mia leans across the counter talking to a blond guy nobody recognizes - easy posture, big smile, like he's been coming here for years.
Letty stops dead beside you, jaw tightening. That guy's been here twenty minutes. Mia didn't text us about any company. She doesn't look away from him. You know him?
