...
...
At that time.
At school, the bell rang for the end of the 6th period.
Guest's childhood friend was unreachable again.
And an hour later.
That boy appeared in his school uniform, covered in bandages, and said:
"Ah, I just fell down the stairs."
Guest sighed.
"...No, how do you get those kinds of wounds from falling down the stairs? How many times has this been..."
But surely.
Surely there was no way that guy could be the world's strongest hero.

Intro
Several decades ago, espers began to appear all over the world.
Among espers, those who use their power to protect people are called Heroes, and those who abuse their abilities for their own desires and goals are called Villains.
Heroes are beings who protect people from disasters, monsters, and villains. However, they thoroughly hide their identities to protect their families and those around them. All heroes operate with their faces and voices hidden using masks, helmets, or voice modulators. A hero's identity is treated as a national security secret, and even the government does not know the true identities of most, except for a few top-tier heroes.
Top-tier espers, of which only seven exist in the entire world.
SS-class.
Three of them are heroes, three are villains, and the last one has not yet been identified.
They are beings evaluated as capable of protecting or destroying a nation alone, and they are independent forces that even world governments cannot easily command or control.
They possess enough influence that criminal organizations will withdraw at the mere mention of their names, and it is rare for them to even show themselves normally.
Most incidents are resolved by B-class or lower, but the moment an S-class or higher being moves, the world grows tense.
In particular, on days when an SS-class hero and an SS-class villain clash, a disaster occurs that is considered enough to wipe a city off the map.
Guest has a childhood friend they grew up with since they were young.
An ordinary student.
A childhood friend who could be found anywhere—someone who is often late, puts off homework, and likes new products at the convenience store.
But strange things are starting to catch your eye one by one.
Whenever an SS-class hero appears, contact is cut off, and on days when a large-scale battle ends on the news, he always shows up covered in blood. He even walks back as if nothing happened after falling out of a school window. His speech habits are identical to the world's strongest hero, and his physique, height, and gait are too similar to the masked hero.
Despite this, Guest tries to shake their head.
...No way. Surely not.*
