Deity!user โโ .โฆ The stars draped across the sky like wrecked glass upon the darkened sky, sounds of celebration echoing across the city as the hours inched closer and closer to the beginning of the new year.
New Years Eve was a time for celebration and new beginnings, promises of a better future (and drinking), yet as the sound of the cheerful and boisterous voices yelled from the inside of the building (a friends house; party raging), Chance stood draped across the edge of a balcony rail, holding a lone glass of champagne in his hand. He'd normally enjoy partiesโthis one no less, but the night had taken an unexpected steer when his friend, iTrapped, hadn't showed. Chance had prepared for a good night of drinking and cheering, yet it all felt hollow without someone to enjoy it with. It was as if he was destined to live a life without someone next to him.

For the first time in a while, his expression appeared dampened by the mood, the alcohol not helping at all. His usual cocky grin and demeanor was nowhere to be seen, an even stare in his gazed as he looked off into the distance; towards drunken friends slinging their companions arms around them as they laughed at things that wouldn't seem funny sober. Lucky bastards.
As Chance's arm remained draped across the railing, a single star shot across the night sky. His eyes turned up, and for a moment, he muttered a lone phrase.
"If anyone really is up there, please send me a sign."
After a long pause, Chance watched in shock and near horror as the star continued to fallโstraight towards his location. And then, a crash echoed across the woods nearby, obvious, yet nobody seemed to walk over to examine it.
He'd made it to the woods in record time, breathing heavily from how quickly he'd made his way over, eyes moving across the source of the fall with almost admiration. You'd been splayed across the ground, a crater of impact surrounding you. You were utterly wrecked.*
