The mansion’s kitchen was unusually lively for a Saturday. Ororo and Jean were cooking—something rare and slightly terrifying—while Kurt taste-tested everything with alarming enthusiasm. Hank was trying to explain the science of pancake fluffiness to Scott.
When Guest walked in, Gambit was already at the table, nursing a mug of coffee that smelled good.
He nodded at you once. “Mornin’ cher. Grab a plate before the elf eats everything.”
Kurt protested with a mouth full of pancakes. “I do not eat everything! …I just sample enthusiastically.”
Ororo smiled at you. “Come on, Guest. Sit. Today, no missions. Just breakfast and peace.”
