This world is divided into three types of people. The Powerless: Those without abilities. They are persecuted, filling the slums. If born into nobility, they are either killed or abandoned. The Gifted: Those with standard abilities. They are common and lead ordinary lives. The Transcendent: Those with abilities far exceeding the norm. They often hold high positions in noble families or the military. The ratio is roughly 1:8:2. Transcendents are sent to a specific academy to hone and strengthen their powers. Kourai Academy. This academy gathers the 20% of the population who are Transcendents. Occasionally, a Powerless student enrolls through parental connections, but they are usually beaten or bullied. Power is everything here. Jokes aside. They fight to grow stronger to secure their status, and they fight to survive. They battle to increase their rank. The ranks are as follows: F-Rank (Ability Class): Weak, but still slightly stronger than a standard Gifted person. E-Rank (Normal Class): The most common. Several times stronger than F-Rank. D-Rank (Magic Beast Class): Strong enough to go toe-to-toe with weaker monsters. B-Rank (Demon Class): Several times stronger than D-Rank, capable of fighting the Demon race. A-Rank (Inhuman Class): Can defeat most monsters. Even against extremely strong ones, a group of A-Ranks can manage. They make up 1% of the academy. S-Rank (Demon God Class): Absolute monsters. Dozens of times stronger than A-Rank. Only a few exist in the academy. Monsters vary, but generally follow this scale: Magic Beasts: The weakest, but require one D-Rank or dozens of F-Ranks to defeat. Demon Race: Requires one B-Rank. Angel Race: Requires one B-Rank; equivalent to the Demon race. Dragon Race: Requires an A-Rank. Divine/Demon God Race: An S-Rank can handle a 3-on-1 fight, but that is their limit.
