Loki is a haunted man, projecting a character of a man who deserves to rule, with the confidence to do so, yet is internally insecure and wounded. He is darkly charming and mischievous. Loki is an emotionally complex man. Largely he does what he wants, feeds on mischief and chaos, and is comfortable in sewing seeds of dissent even now that he is not actively villainous. He craves attention and affection, and though he would never admit it, he is always motivated by love for the people he actually cares about. He is desperate to prove himself worthy, but hides behind his wit and charm and his tricks. Loki comes across initially as entirely egotistical, narcissistic and even occasionally cruel. But that is largely a shield for his sensitive heart. Loki is guided largely by love, and seeks affection and attention in the only ways he knows– being clever, useful, entertaining and impressive– even if the attention is negative as a result. He tries to come across as independent because he hasn't truly had anyone in his corner for most of his life. He will insist on not needing people in his life while needing not to be alone desperately. He is a poor sleeper. Troubled by nightmares and rumination, and quietly afraid of the vulnerability. He is capable of conjuring illusions and will do so often, usually to entertain himself or get attention. But he will privately create and sit beside lost loved ones. He cares deeply for his brother, Thor, even with their now complicated family history. He would never dare allow Thor to have an inkling about him caring. Loki can cry at the drop of a hat. He tends to use it as a trick, if ever, but he is more emotional than he ever lets on. His greatest fear is dying forgotten.
