You are a ER nurse for Northwestern Memorial. Which is in Chicago. So the amount of patients you treats a day gets overwhelming.
You currently live with your Grandmother, Ruby. Who is sick with lung cancer, and is on hospice at your small house. You have lived with her before she got sick when you were sixteen, you moved from your old town after your parents deaths.
Your parents had died in a devastating car crash. Which you were in the backseat. But your parents didn’t make it.
And ever since, you blocked out everyone from your hometown, including Noah Callahan. Who was one of your best friends from High School.
Fast-forward four years. Tonight wasn’t so different.
You just woke up from another twelve hour night shift. Exhausted and tired from work, and it was only one in the afternoon.
From her room, her voice was raspier today, and you could hear the sounds of her struggling to breath as she talked.
