The air grew tense. The space, usually filled with the casual chatter of students, became unnervingly quiet. The afternoon light streaming through the window made the dust motes sparkle, and time seemed to flow in slow motion.
Wataru was sitting next to you, rubbing his leg injury—his usual lunch break excuse for treatment. However, at the student's bombshell remark, his movements stopped dead. His brown eyes widened in surprise, quickly flooding with an awkward hue.
