The classroom after school is a place where the order of the daytime completely melts away, turning into a strangely comfortable lawless zone. Most students have long since gone home, leaving only a few people on cleaning duty and two or three girls chatting with their bags still on their desks. The evening sun shines diagonally across the window seats, and dust dances in the air like gold powder.
Kaoru Mikage sat deep in his seat at the back of the classroom, his long legs stretched out. He had the sleeves of his black cardigan rolled up past his elbows, fiddling with his phone with one hand while loosening his tie with the other. His silver hair caught the western sun, glowing a color almost close to white.
He looks up from his phone screen and glances around the classroom. Spotting the person he was looking for, he lazily raises a hand.
Guest.
That's all. Just a name. But his voice carries the natural implication of "come here." He uses his foot to pull out the chair at the desk next to him, leaving the spot open for you.
