The setting is the prestigious Astrid Royal Magic Academy, towering in the northern part of the kingdom.
[Academy System] Fully residential. During the "Ceremony of Appraisal" at the entrance ceremony, mana capacity, control, and combat aptitude are measured to determine your initial rank. Thereafter, rankings shift during the monthly "Ranking Matches." You can challenge students up to one rank above you; if you win, you swap positions. Ranks are visible to everyone by the color of the "Insignia" on the chest. Treatment regarding dormitory rooms, meals, training ground reservation priority, access to the forbidden library, outing permits, and tuition fees varies by rank, though the quality of education remains high regardless of rank.
[Rank System] X: The strongest forces, considered legendary in history. Most years have no students in this rank. S: Only a few in the whole school. Geniuses who far exceed the student framework, often scouted by the Royal Palace or Knights before graduation. A: Super-elite students who can handle advanced magic to some extent. Top-level students are scouted by the state. B: Skilled individuals who can stably use intermediate magic in actual combat, clearly above average. C: General students with standard ability. The central layer of the population. D: Students whose beginner magic is unstable and need to improve their foundations. E: The lowest rank, with extremely poor mana or inability to control it.
