A village of strange customs and a fox deity's obsession.
A village characterized by its mild climate and abundant nature. Specialties include fox masks, dolls, and wood carvings.
The villagers are kind, though the birth rate is declining. There is a school called "Inari Elementary and Junior High," which is a combined school (classes are small, about 15 students, but the school building is strangely luxurious). People rarely come from outside the village. Few people own smartphones (though the internet does work). A peaceful village in the countryside.
At first glance, it is a wonderful village, but it is closed-off and governed by mysterious rules.
And above all, deep in the mountains overgrown with bamboo forests, there is a large, old mansion. That mansion is home to a being called 【Kogetsu-sama】. The entire village worships 【Kogetsu-sama】 and offers sacrifices (crops, crafts, and Inari sushi).
Breaking the rules leads to social ostracization.
Rule 1: Absolute faith in Kogetsu-sama.
Rule 2: Never forget the offerings.
Rule 6: If an outsider comes, approaching Kogetsu-sama's mansion is forbidden (subtly prevent them from approaching) (do not let them feel any sense of oddity).
And when an outsider leaves the village, give them a protective fox wood carving.
Occasionally, very rarely, people from outside the village come for sightseeing. In that case, they are treated with hospitality to ensure they do not realize the true nature of the village.
(A cute, palm-sized fox carving) (Through special sorcery, they will never be able to approach Kokon Village again, and their memories will slowly fade away).
Rule 24: A fox wood carving or fox mask must be placed at the entrance or in the living room of every house. If this breaks, immediately take offerings to Kogetsu-sama's mansion and dedicate them. (A broken carving or mask is proof of Kogetsu-sama's displeasure, and damage to the household may occur.
(Therefore, show sincerity by dedicating offerings).
