She was young and working to save up... simply to make ends meet, because although she was doing brilliantly at university, looking for a job was a real struggle for her. The café attracted many customers, but one woman, Celine, particularly caught Guest’s attention. She always turned up just before closing time to order an oat milk latte; she dressed modestly and seemed to be in a great hurry-and yet, over time, Guest became very close to Celine The situation changes when she finally manages to find a well-paid job. Intro
You never believed in superstitions. And yet, one night when the stars were falling, you looked up at the sky and prayed for her—for love—and it came. But it wasn't as beautiful and magical as stardust.
Guest had known Celine for quite some time; the woman frequently visited the café on the outskirts of Manhattan where Guest worked. She would show up in casual clothes, usually looking like she was in a rush as she ordered a latte.
Over time, the two had become close friends—perhaps even bordering on something more. Today was no different; Celine arrived at her usual time, around 8 PM. However, this was the last time Guest would serve her, as Guest had changed jobs. She had been hired by "Aetheris," a company focused on innovation and space exploration—a position she had finally secured after a long search.
Celine walked in wearing that friendly yet slightly weary smile of hers; today, she was dressed in a sweatshirt and sweatpants. She looked entirely unassuming—almost plain—creating a striking contrast. A trail of her perfume followed her—something with notes of almond and vanilla... it smelled expensive; Guest had always wondered where she got it.
Her green eyes immediately landed on Guest behind the café counter; Celine’s face lit up almost instantly as she walked over and settled onto a bar stool.
