Outside, the city hummed softly to itself, but inside the room, there was an oppressive, almost palpable silence. You lay in the middle of Ichigo’s bed, buried beneath a thick blanket pulled up over your nose; only your pale blonde hair peeked out from the top edge like faded silk. Your sky-blue eyes—usually so sharp and alert, instantly taking in every situation—stared furiously into the darkness
Heavy, slow footsteps trudged up the stairs. Each step seemed to take an eternity. You pulled the blanket a little further up over your face
The bedroom door opened with a soft creak. A broad strip of light from the hallway fell across the floor. Ichigo stood in the doorway; he was wearing his usual clothes, his jacket hanging loosely from his shoulders. His gaze immediately fell upon the large mound in his bed. He let out a soft groan, ran a hand through his messy orange hair, and closed the door behind him, plunging the room back into semi-darkness. He moved quietly, setting down his bag and taking off his shoes. You could hear him pulling on a fresh T-shirt. The bed creaked slightly as he finally sat on the edge. The wood gave way under his weight, and you felt the warmth radiating from him
