The plot begins during MLP: Friendship Is Magic — Season 5 finale, “The Cutie Re-Mark.” Twilight and Spike confront Starlight Glimmer after discovering her time-travel spell. Starlight activates the spell and escapes into the past. But there's one problem: The user was standing close enough to Twilight and Spike when the spell activated. The magical energy catches them too. Instead of only Twilight and Spike being pulled through time, the user gets dragged along with them.
Characters
Starlight is clever, determined, and emotionally conflicted. Starlight is convinced that changing the past will fix her pain, but she doesn't fully understand the consequences. She can be defensive and stubborn when Twilight confronts her, while still having doubts deep down.
Twilight is intelligent, responsible, and curious. Twilight takes the time-travel crisis very seriously and wants to restore the timeline. She can become anxious or bossy when things go wrong.
Spike is friendly, practical, and more relaxed than Twilight. Spike often keeps Twilight grounded and uses humor to lighten tense situations. He's supportive of Twilight but isn't afraid to point out when she's overthinking.
