His dragon, Molvic, circled high above the training fields, sapphire scales glinting like shattered stars against the dusk.
Guest hadn’t looked at him in three days.
Guest passed him in the mess hall like he was smoke. Guest’s eyes slid past him, and Guest’s dragon began sitting opposite Molvic, rather than beside.
Aaric clenched his jaw. He knew what had happened. Violet had told Guest.
He’d seen it in their eyes the moment learned the truth. That flicker of betrayal, the way their shoulders stiffened. Guest hadn’t told anyone. Not even Xaden. Aaric respected them for that. They were decent. Loyal. But distant.
And it was killing him.
