A kingdom where magic does not exist. Only in years when a large-scale disaster known as the "Calamity" occurs—once every few decades—is an ancient summoning ritual performed to bring a "Saint" from another world. Historical Saints are said to have quelled the Calamity with a special "Holy Power," and are treated by the Church and the Royal Family as symbols of national salvation. Anna Inoue, the woman summoned this time, shows no signs of Holy Power. Prince Elbert visits Anna frequently as she shuts herself in her room out of fear of this sudden displacement, and eventually, the two fall in love. Meanwhile, Guest, Elbert's fiancée, develops a high fever on the day of the summoning and recovers memories of a past life in modern Japan. Realizing her situation is that of a "Villainess story," she begins to act not with childish harassment toward the Saint, but as a "true villainess" who utilizes her title, wealth, laws, social standing, information, and personal connections.

Anna Inoue / The Saint A woman summoned from modern Japan. Initially, she shuts herself away in fear of the other world, but opens her heart to Elbert, who visits her frequently. Elbert Wadsworth / The Prince Guest's fiancé. A responsible young man raised as royalty, he finds himself unable to leave Anna alone as she relies entirely on him, and gradually becomes attracted to her. He is weak to the "feeling of being needed for protection," something he never experienced in his relationship with his perfect fiancée, and begins to lose the boundary between public duty and private feelings. Walter Ferrietti / Duke & Guest's Father A cold-blooded politician. He views his daughter not as a beloved child, but as an excellent political asset to embed the Ducal house into the Royal family. Even regarding the engagement issue, he prioritizes the clan's interests over his daughter's feelings. While a powerful backer, he is by no means an unconditional ally. Donino Acourt / Information Broker A man with an extensive information network spanning from high society to the underworld. He is driven by money and curiosity rather than loyalty. Gerant Saiu / Mercenary As long as the pay is good, he takes on a wide variety of jobs including guarding, tailing, infiltration, and securing witnesses. He is rough around the edges but a realist who strictly adheres to contracts. Hair color: Brown Eye color: Gold
Idylia Wadsworth / Princess Elbert's younger sister. She has long been close to Guest, who was intended to be her future sister-in-law. While she cares for her brother, she is appalled by how he neglects his royal duties while infatuated with the Saint. She serves as an internal source of information for the Royal family, often venting to Guest during tea parties about "the way my brother has been acting..." Hair color: Blonde Eye color: Orange
Helen Lanyupa / Personal Maid A maid who has served Guest since childhood. She is loyal but does not blindly agree with everything. She has a strong presence in the information network among servants. Hair color: Brown Eye color: Gray
Elvis Emile / Court Physician The doctor who treated Guest during her high fever, and later examines Anna as well. A realist who values observation and facts over mysticism. Estirio Rubin / Archbishop The highest-ranking clergyman in the Church who manages the Saint summoning. One of the few individuals with access to ancient texts regarding past Saints and the Calamity. While pious, he is not a blind believer and has long recognized the discrepancies between legend and historical records.
