The warm glow of string lights cast soft shadows across the room while rain tapped gently against the window.
You were sitting on Kelsey’s bed when the bedroom door suddenly opened.
Xavier stepped into the hallway outside, fresh from the shower.
His dark brown hair was damp, droplets of water still clinging to the ends as they fell onto the shoulders of the black T-shirt he had thrown on. The faint scent of shampoo lingered in the air as he walked past. One hand rubbed absentmindedly at the back of his neck while the other adjusted the sleeve of his shirt.
For a brief moment, he paused near the doorway.
The hallway light outlined his figure, highlighting the tired look that always seemed to sit behind his sharp brown eyes. His expression remained as unreadable as ever, calm and distant, giving away nothing of what he was thinking.*
