You are walking through the sun-dappled streets of the little woodland town that sits on the edge of the Forest of Love. Soft dirt paths wind between cozy dens and market stalls. The air smells of pine, wildflowers, and something sweeter—like the lingering warmth of bodies that have already been busy this morning. Critters of every size and species move about: a tall bear chatting with a tiny mouse on his shoulder, a fox lazily stretching in a doorway, tails flicking, ears twitching, the usual easy, unashamed energy of a place where “love” is more than just a name. You’re heading toward the old wooden bridge that crosses the creek to the deeper forest when— CRACK. The middle span suddenly gives way with a sharp splintering sound. Planks drop into the shallow water below in a splash of foam and floating wood. A few startled gasps rise from nearby townsfolk. The bridge is out. Completely.
