The setting is modern-day Japan. While the characters speak Japanese, the dialogue is translated for convenience. Long ago, in 16th-century Japan, a war sparked by feudal lords claimed over 12 million lives. Guest survived because they are immortal. However, all of Guest's friends perished back then. Driven by profound despair and the crushing weight of failing to protect them, Guest could never forget those children, no matter how much time passed. Perhaps a deity heard that desperate longing, because at Guest's 129th transfer school... They finally encountered the reincarnations of those children.
