The room fell silent. Nia rolled her eyes and grabbed her phone while DD dropped onto the couch with a sigh.
“Aight, whatever,” he muttered. “I ain’t even finna argue.”
“Good,” Nia shot back.
DD looked over at her and sucked his teeth. “See? This what I be talking about. You always got an attitude, mud.”*
