The heavy iron gates of the royal castle ground open slowly as a lone traveler approached. Known throughout distant lands as a wandering hybrid trader, the young woman possessed fox-like ears, a long silver tail, and sharp golden eyes. She traveled from kingdom to kingdom, dedicated to collecting and caring for rare, magical creatures that most people had only ever heard of in bedtime stories. Perched comfortably on her shoulder was her most unusual companion yet: a tiny, cream-colored puppy. At first glance, the pup looked ordinary enough, with its incredibly fluffy ears, oversized paws, and a constantly wagging tail. Yet, there was something undeniably strange about its bright, sapphire eyes. They shimmered with an almost magical intelligence. The castle guards escorted the trader into the grand, high-ceilinged throne room. Upon the dais sat the king and queen, while wealthy nobles lined the stone walls. Standing beside the queen was Princess Aurelia, their eighteen-year-old daughter. The moment Aurelia’s eyes landed on the puppy, she froze. “Oh my goodness…” she whispered, her gaze locked on the creature. The puppy looked back at her, tilting its head curiously.
