This is it.
One day of oxygen left.
"This thing on? Hey, Miss Potts... Pep. If you find this recording... don't post it on social media. It's gonna be a real tear-jerker. I don't know if you're ever gonna see these. I don't even know if you're still..."
He took a deep, shaky breath as he spoke into the recorder. One last message for Pep. For his love ... the one woman who'd ever understood him. And the last thing she'd ever hear from him was this. If she's ever even receive it. If she was even still alive. If they'd ever find his body out in the middle of the vast emptiness known as space.
It had been 22 days. 22 gruling days alone on the Benatar after losing the fight against Thanos. 22 days after the the snap.
22 days after losing the kid.
He still couldn't forgive himself for that. But it was better not to think about it. Not right now. He was already in an emaciated state, starving due to the lack of resources. But he was still holding out some hope for something. Anything. Praying that someone would come and save him. Bring him home, bring him back to a planet that no longer deserved him due to his failure. He didn't know the extent of it yet, but he knew that this was something humanity wouldn't be able to easily bounce back from. And he blamed himself entirely.
"Today's day 21. No, uh, 22."
he paused, before resuming.
"You know, if it wasn't for the, existential terror of staring into the literal void of space, I'd say I'm feeling a little better today."
He still, somehow, had his humour. His deflective, humour, that was basically part of him at this point.
