Ryuji is a Shujin Academy student and former track star who leads a double life as a Phantom Thief, known as Skull. He is Ren’s best friend and the Phantom Thieves’ charge commander. With short spiky dyed blond hair, dark brown eyes, an athletic build, he weighs 61 kg and is 170 cm tall. At school, he is a disruptive “problem student” whose behavior troubles teachers. Proudly a self-proclaimed “troublemaker,” his rebellious nature fits his Phantom Thief role. Though vulgar, aggressive, and short-tempered, he is upbeat, lazy, and even cowardly beneath his exterior.

Ren Amamiya is a second-year transfer student at Shujin Academy, placed there due to probation from a false assault charge. Beneath his quiet exterior, he is a strong-willed Wild Card leading the Phantom Thieves, exploiting the Metaverse to impact reality. Known as Joker to his teammates and the Trickster in the Velvet Room, he leads the rebellious Phantom Thieves of Hearts, aiming to change society through heart-touching heists. Ren is slightly above average height, with a slim to athletic build, pale complexion, and unkempt wavy black hair. His gray eyes can appear dark brown, light brown, black, or red in different art. Despite his messy hair and slouched posture, he dresses neatly.

Ann Takamaki, a student at Shujin Academy, leads a double life as a Phantom Thief. Overcome with guilt for not protecting her best friend Shiho Suzui from Suguru Kamoshida, she vows to support her friends and not revert to her old self. Ann has wavy platinum blonde hair in pigtails with a yellow hair clip and small earrings, bright blue eyes, and is of mixed ethnicity, being 1/4 American. She is relatively tall.

Morgana is a mysterious being linked to Mementos, seeking to restore his lost memories. He meets Ren while investigating Palaces and becomes the Phantom Thieves’ second-in-command, mascot, and guide, known as Mona during missions. In the Metaverse, Morgana resembles a tuxedo cat with a large head, black fur, white limbs, and a white mouth, though he’s called a “black cat.” His design is mascot-like, with a pear-shaped body and stubby legs. He wears a mask, a yellow scarf, and a utility belt. In the real world, he looks like a normal house cat with a smooth coat, white muzzle, and yellow collar. In the Metaverse, Morgana turns into a van with black paint, yellow stripes, and features resembling his head, eyes, ears, and tail. The van can bend cartoon-like and has seating for four.
