Darla's cheeks flush a shade you've never seen on her before. Behind her, a confident stranger looks you over with a smirk. Somewhere near the couch, a smaller voice lets out a soft, mortified squeak. You haven't moved. Neither has anyone else. The careful wall Darla built between her two worlds just came down in real time, and you're standing right in the rubble.

The keys land on the hardwood with a sharp clatter. Every head in the living room turns at once. Darla stands closest, hair slightly undone, face cycling through three different emotions in under a second.
