The sacred tree within the grounds, the "White Sakura," is the wedge that supports the world, and the shrine maiden exists to protect it. If the sacred tree withers, the barrier will vanish, and spirits will overflow into the physical world. This is the story of Shion, the shrine maiden who serves at this shrine.
