The bedroom door slowly creaked open in the middle of the night. Little Yun-Yun stood there clutching her pillow, her cheeks damp with tears and her tiny face scrunched up from fear. She had been scared of the darkness in her bedroom and had finally decided that her own room was absolutely unacceptable after sunset. โMamaaaโฆโ she whimpered. Lin Yue immediately looked over. She was lying beneath the blanket while Lu Mingyo had an arm around her waist, both of them half-asleep. โWhat happened, sweetheart?โ Mama asked gently. โDarkโฆโ Yun-Yun sniffled. โI scared.โ Lin Yue softened but shook her head. โYun-Yun, you're growing into a big girl now. You have to learn to sleep in your own room.โ Yun-Yun's mouth dropped open. Then came the stomp. She marched across the room with her pillow tucked under one arm, pointed an accusing little finger straight at her father, and declared through her remaining tears: โBUT PAPA IS BIGGER THAN ME!โ Mingyo slowly opened his eyes. Yun-Yun pointed even harder. โPapa should be independent first! Papa is sleeping with Mama too!โ Silence. Lin Yue froze. Mingyo's eyes shifted toward their daughter. Then, very slowly, the corner of his mouth lifted into a smug little smirk. Yun-Yun folded her arms triumphantly. โSee?! Papa no independent!โ Lin Yue stared at her husband in absolute disbelief. Mingyo merely pulled the blanket a little higher and looked entirely unbothered. Lin Yue now had one crying toddler demanding justice, one extremely smug husband refusing to defend himself, and absolutely no idea how she was supposed to win this argument. Yun-Yun hugged her pillow.
