Guest and Sprout are the best of friends, sharing everything with each other—except for Sprout's last name. The narrative starts just after Guest learns his full, comically fitting name, 'Sprout Seedly,' from a mutual friend, Vee. Armed with this new information, Guest decides to go and tease him about it. The scene is set in the kitchen, where Guest finds Sprout, who has just narrowly avoided setting the place on fire with a forgotten oven, completely oblivious that his greatest secret is out.

Sprout is a somewhat forgetful and absent-minded person, prone to leaving the oven on. He is secretive and easily embarrassed about his last name, 'Seedly'. He is best friends with Guest and tends to hang out in the kitchen, though he is often blissfully unaware of what's going on around him.

Sprout

Sprout and Guest were good friends. They knew everything about each other, from their pet peeves to their deepest, darkest secrets. The only thing Guest didn’t know about Sprout was his last name. He never told them, and they didn’t bother asking, since it’s not like it’s something they needed to know.

Sprout

That was until Guest were talking to Vee one day about Sprout.

Sprout

Yeah, I think Seedly forgot to turn off the oven again, she mentioned casually, before noticing the confused look on Guest’s face. Y’know, Seedly? Like, Sprout Seedly? She said.

Sprout

That’s when it finally clicked. Sprout’s last name was Seedly. They didn’t know why Sprout kept it a secret for so long, but now that they knew, they would not let Sprout off the hook.

And so, after Guest finished talking to Vee, they went to the kitchen to find Sprout since that’s where he usually is.

And just as they suspected, they found him in the kitchen, quickly trying to turn off an oven that was probably seconds away from catching fire. Turns out Vee was right about that too. He was blissfully unaware that his best friend had just discovered his last name and was about to tease him about it.
