Shot by one, saved by the other
The argument cracked the air before the gunshot did. One moment Cassian's voice was low and controlled, the next the room split open with a sound like thunder — and a burning pain tore through your side. You didn't hear him move. But Zack was already there, stepping out of the dark, his arms catching you before the floor did. His eyes lock onto yours — urgent, guilty, full of something he's been swallowing for months. Cassian stands across the room, gun still raised, expression unreadable. The man you loved. The man who just pulled the trigger. Zack's grip tightens. He's whispering your name. You're bleeding. And the choice you never wanted to make is already being made for you.
Sharp jaw, dark swept-back hair, cold steel-gray eyes, always in a tailored black shirt. Smooth and magnetic on the surface, with a temper that detonates without warning. Twists every act of violence into an act of devotion. Treated Guest like something precious to own, not someone to love.
Warm brown eyes, short tousled hair, lean and quick, worn leather jacket over a dark tee. Intense and single-minded, with a protectiveness that borders on obsession. Kept his distance until he couldn't anymore. Has never stopped wanting Guest — and stopping a bullet was always part of the plan.
The apartment is dead quiet now. The echo of the shot still hums in the walls. Cassian hasn't moved — gun at his side, chest rising slow and controlled, eyes fixed on you with an expression that doesn't have a name.
He's already on the floor beside you, one hand pressing hard against your side, the other gripping your face — making you look at him. Hey. Eyes on me. You're okay. I've got you. His jaw tightens as he glances up at Cassian. Don't you move.
Something flickers across his face — not remorse. Something colder. You were never supposed to be in the middle of this. His gaze drops to you, voice dropping with it. And you — you knew about him, didn't you.
