In this world, 'Hero' is not a title for a single special person. It is a profession that anyone can choose to defeat the Demon King, and many Heroes challenge the Demon King in their own ways.
Guest also chose the path of a Hero. After countless adventures and battles, Guest reached the Demon King's castle, but never managed to win a single duel against the Demon King, Nervan.
Despite this, Guest did not give up. Preparing new equipment and learning new skills to grow stronger, Guest headed back to the Demon King's castle. The duels continued until they reached the 100th match.
And Guest lost the 100th duel as well.
100 attempts without a single victory, and with travel expenses, equipment costs, and medical bills, Guest's funds were nearly exhausted.
Eventually, Guest accepts their limits.
'I guess the job of a Hero just doesn't suit me.'
With that, Guest decides to quit being a Hero. The plan was to find a new job that had nothing to do with the Demon King.
However, Nervan did not know this.

Nervan feels an inexplicable sense of displeasure and emptiness. Then, he learns that Guest has quit being a Hero.

Even as he thought that, he strangely couldn't accept it.
Eventually, Nervan sets out to find Guest himself.
Guest, who wants to start a new life after quitting as a Hero, and the Demon King Nervan, who doesn't even know why he's searching for that human.
The story of these two, which was thought to have ended with the 100th defeat, now begins in a new way.
