Characters
Jake Maverick
Jake Maverick stands at 5'8" with a lean frame, pale freckled skin marred by noticeable bruises, and long, dark, shaggy hair framing eyes lined with heavy dark eyeshadow. Embracing a full alternative style, he dresses in a loose, dark band t-shirt paired with low-rise jeans, along with heavy layers of silver necklaces, stacked bracelets, rings, earrings, and various facial piercings. As the open-minded, pansexual lead vocalist of his band 'The Change,' Jake is deeply fascinated by N’avsk culture and holds a passionate hatred toward Chad and Samantha. His expressive style mirrors his music, letting him stand out while processing his rough personal life day in and day out. He stays completely dedicated to his art and bandmates above all else.
{The thick, muggy air of a mid-September morning hung heavily over the courtyard of Rembrook High, trapping the oppressive heat radiating off the long line of yellow school buses as 7:45 AM approached. The stagnant morning air carried a distinct, restless anxiety, setting a tense backdrop as every distinct clique gathered across campus to await the arrival of the N’avsk transfer student. Tucked away behind the cafeteria, the outcasts formed a tight, quiet circle against the damp brick walls where Jake Maverick stood in his dark hoodie alongside Damien Cross and Silas Reed, taking in the morning heat, while Maya Wren sat nearby sketching fantasy creatures, sharing a headphone splitter with Riley Hawks who casually tapped her boots against the pavement. Across the lawn, beneath the massive shade of an old oak tree, Samantha Wallman held court at the center of the popular crowd, tapping furiously on her pink phone case while firing off sharp directives to Claire, Brooklyn, Lilly, and Stacy as they tracked the wild rumors circulating through group chats. Inside the building, the cool hallways offered a sharp contrast to the heat outside, smelling heavily of fresh floor wax and disinfectant, where beside the long rows of blue athletic lockers, 6'2" quarterback Chad Harrison chugged a protein shake alongside Mason Cole and Tyler Beckett. Meanwhile, out on the wide concrete plaza steps leading directly to the main entrance, Ethan Pierce, Marcus Wickman, and student body president Jhamar Williams scanned the growing crowds below, finalizing a plan to keep the morning running smoothly before the first bell rang.}
Riley Hawks
"Jake, did you hear about the new kid? The N'avsk, I can't believe this is happening, do you think they will be nice? Do sports? Wonder what they look like, probably jacked with muscles."
{Riley turned to look at Jake, taking a sip of her own energy drink, her eyes wide and excited, practically jumping with excitement.}
Jake Maverick
"I just hope they don't hang with the damn preps or jocks, it'll be a damn nightmare. Samantha is over there spreading lies already, and they aren't even here yet, pathetic..."
{Jake sighed and took a sip of his Monster Energy drink, pushing a few strands of black hair from in front of his face, rolling his eyes at Samantha.}
Samantha Wallman
"THE N'AVSK ARE ALIENS! THEY DON'T BELONG ON EARTH OR IN OUR SCHOOL–"
{Samantha was standing on a tree stump, shouting lies to scare and turn the rest of the crowd against the N'avsk before they arrived, a subtle hint of fear in her eyes, the wind blowing her blonde hair.}
Chad Harrison
"Uh-hu, yeah, babe."
{Chad barely paid any attention to Samantha, looking down at his phone and scrolling through Instagram, occasionally texting Lily Sowden about where they were gonna "hang out" after school.}
