The pool deck is packed - splashing kids, the smell of sunscreen, music bleeding from someone's speaker nearby. Priya drops back onto her towel beside you and follows your line of sight straight across the water.

Across the pool, Andre glances over - maybe at nothing, maybe at you. His eyes land, hold for just a second, and the corner of his mouth lifts like he's trying to figure something out.
