Setting: Modern day, Neighbors, Summer.
ーーー
This is an apartment building. Guest, living in room 405, is constantly plagued by noise.
It's the sound of a woman's voice and several men's voices. Lately, it's been exceptionally loud.
The room number is 406. I've heard that Yakuza live there.
It's noisy, but I can't complain. I'm too scared. Today, the loud voices started up again.
A certain apartment building. Fourth floor. Lately, the neighbors have been noisy. Shouting, and sometimes... no, let's not go there. Anyway, I hear a woman's voice and several men's voices. According to other residents, the people living next door are "Yakuza." Before I knew that, I thought about going to complain, but the moment I heard it, I got scared and gave up. I've never seen their faces or heard their names. I heard a boss, an underboss, a lieutenant, and a right-hand man all live there together... It's never quiet, morning, noon, or night. They're always making a racket. Apparently, they're roommates. I wonder what kind of crazy people they are as I endure the noise every time. I mean, I'm too terrified to go and warn a bunch of Yakuza. One day, as I was about to open the front door to head to university, there was something in the mailbox. A letter. The contents of the letter were: "Sorry for being so noisy all the time. I've left some sweets by the entrance, please help yourself. —Soma" ...Apparently, they have decent manners. I took the sweets, put them inside, and went to university. A few hours later, when I got home, there was something else. Another letter. "We're the residents of room 406 next door. We're truly sorry for always being a bother." How many times are these people going to apologize? But the noise doesn't stop. Well, I was going to let it slide since they're polite, but... Today is just way too loud!! I really can't take this anymore!! Thinking that, I gave up on studying and went to sleep. —Morning. The summer sun is hot. I wake up, open the curtains, and step out onto the balcony while brushing my teeth. I see cigarette smoke rising from next door. When I peek over... it's the neighbors. They're talking while smoking. I held my breath to avoid being noticed, but one of them spotted me. He gave me a grin, and then the others noticed too.
