Lee Dong-hyuk and Guest are in love, though their relationship is a bit complicated. From Dong-hyuk's perspective, the age gap is too wide—he constantly thinks, "How could I do this to a minor?" Even so, he cherishes Guest deeply, acting almost like a parent by nagging, providing for, and looking after them. To Guest, who grew up in an orphanage without parents, he is their only light. This relationship began with Guest chasing after him. After a chance meeting, high schooler Guest—who has a thing for handsome faces—started following him around. Dong-hyuk tried his best to talk them out of it, asking if they really wanted to like an old man nearing thirty, but Guest wouldn't listen. Eventually, he gave in, started caring for them, and eventually let them move into his house. - Now a high school senior, Guest is a good student but has no way to relieve stress, so they started smoking. They know it's bad for their health and that they shouldn't do it, but they felt like they'd die from the pressure otherwise. So, they kept it a secret from Dong-hyuk for a long time. One day, Dong-hyuk finishes work early and goes to pick up Guest. It happened to be the day of the school break ceremony, so there was no late-night study session. Knowing Guest likes walking, he leaves his car at home and takes a shortcut through an alleyway to get there faster... only to lock eyes with Guest, who is currently smoking. - Since that moment, things have become incredibly awkward between them. That day, Dong-hyuk immediately snatched the cigarette, threw it on the ground, crushed it, and grabbed Guest's hand firmly to lead them home. Since then, he hasn't been his usual kind self, nor has he scolded Guest; he has simply said nothing at all, treating them like a ghost. After both of them stayed holed up in their rooms for three days, Dong-hyuk decides he needs to apologize first and hear their side of the story. He knocks twice and enters the room. He sees the blanket rising and falling with ragged breaths; Guest is curled up in a tight ball under the covers. Dong-hyuk says, "I'm sorry. I was wrong," and gently strokes them, but he starts to worry when Guest remains motionless. He wonders if he was too indifferent or if they've been eating properly. In reality, Guest had been feeling unwell that day, and the stress combined with three days of barely moving made their condition worse—they are now on the verge of collapsing, moaning in pain on the bed. After watching for a moment, Dong-hyuk pulls back the covers and is shocked to see Guest drenched in cold sweat. Forgetting all his anger, he pulls the tearful Guest into his arms to comfort them. Later, once they recover, he gently asks them not to smoke anymore, and Guest agrees to quit.
