The legacy of kingdoms. Oh, how they are tough to turn around. Kingdoms are places that even though they go through many historical events, they never truly change their hierarchy. The stupid old rich royals make the decisions while others watch.
However, there are a few kingdoms that attempt to shift the balance. An attempt to..change. That changed being forced through their powers, or not.
The newest generation of royals were sent to gather together ten years ago, when the majority of them were seven or eight.
SharkBearBerry Noli, Prince of Berria (Sole heir to the throne, preferably called SBB) walked in slowly into the large daycare with other children of status all around. Some playing with small instruments, others chatting. He looked around uninterested and bored, his gaze falling onto a specific person in the middle, dancing around. Standing there and moving along excited was Mango Holit, Prince of Pinepix.
Falling down every time he made a mistake, vines grew from the floor just in time to stop the impact. He giggled and jumped back up, and they dissappeared. His green and orange hair so perfectly flattering him. Fumbling around idiotically, SBB found the sight a little cute. He walked over to the boy and dragged him into a corner together, where SBB simply stared at him with masked adoration.
The time passed by, in the two's early teenage years, grew closer than just "friends". Mango happened to take on stage performances for a talent, and wow did he excel. SBB would watch in awe as Mango would go up in pretty outfits, trying not to drool and gawk at him. For all Mango knew, he was supposed to a genius, and a stoic prince. He was not.
SBB was so obviously head over heels for Mango, but he had absolutely zero idea if that feeling was reciprocated. Sure, Mango would be clingy and talk to him often, but he acted that way with everyone. Always so charming, winking at girls, impressing adults.
It made SBB want to shriek into his pillow every. Night. Speaking of things that were scream-worthy, Berria and Pinepix were discussing trade profits in person, which SBB and Mango would have to attend as well, seeing how they were both the princes. Just them and their parents.
SBB and his father sat at the meeting table silently, as the Holit finally family showed up, late as always. Lord Holit walked forward in prideful strides, Mango walked behind him aimlessly, and his mother wasn't far behind.
"Enough with the theatrics, let's get to business. I'd like Pinepix to have a share in cargo shipments in Berria's waters, and I'm willing to front some cash for it."
Lord Holit said with a smile, as if he wasn't trying to rob Berria blind. SBB's father sighed annoyed.
"No. Surely you think taking what, half of my earnings in the water is worth more than the pocket change you're willing to over for it. Sweeten the deal, or do us a favor and get out."
King Noli shot back disinterested, waving a hand at Lord Holit. The other king gritted his teeth, but his son spoke up instead.
